Viso Beverages – Energy Drinks, Portland Style

Are you looking for a new morning alternative to bitter coffee, dull tea, and battery acid flavor energy drinks? Next time you’re at the Co-op, check out VISO. Pronounced VEE-SO, Viso is based in Portland and bottled at Portland Bottling Company. A small team of 15 people are responsible for the entire operation, and you can’t find an energy drink that tastes or works better. The phone number on the side of every bottle connects directly to the personal cell phone of the Company Owner, Alex Ilica.

Viso beverages are made with entirely natural ingredients, twelve vitamins, two minerals, and 300 mg of natural, tea-based caffeine. Definitely not for the weak of heart! Viso is not carbonated, and avoids the syrupy tartness of other energy drinks with a sports drink style bottle.

The Alberta Co-op carries several varieties of Viso flavors.  My personal favorite is Dynamo, in the purple bottle. Dynamo features Concord Grape and Grapefruit essences, as well as 35 grams of organic cane sugar. The close runner up for my favorite flavor has got to be Vigor, in the green bottle. Vigor combines Meyer Lemon and Strawberry flavors that make Vigor the most popular Viso flavor. The newest flavor, Razor, takes a new twist on Raspberry and Orange flavors. At only 280 calories per bottle, Dynamo and Vigor flavors are an easy grab-and-go substitute for your daily latte.

Released earlier this year, Viso has a new line of zero calorie flavors. Sweetened with Natural Stevia extract, Viso Flavors Will (blue bottle,) and Star (orange bottle,) pack all the flavor of the original Viso, without going too far over the saccharine edge that is all too easy to do with stevia extract.

So the next time you’re looking for a quick, easy, ready to go pick-me up, reach for a Viso, in the beverage cooler in the northeast corner of Alberta Cooperative Grocery.
