All individuals involved in the ACG Community are welcome to submit letters for publication to our e-newsletter! Letters must include your full name and telephone number for verification (don’t worry- we won’t publish your personal info beyond your name, promise!).
Letters may be edited for publication, with the permission of sender. For space constraints, please keep your letter under 200 words. We reserve the right to not publish any letter for any reason, including but not limited to space constraints, letters irrelevant to ACG, and offensive material.
Please submit your letters to email hidden; JavaScript is required. All letters should be received before 3pm Monday in order to be considered for publication that week.
To the ACG community,
By now you have probably heard that there will be a special meeting of the co-op membership on Sunday afternoon, November 13. We will be meeting at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on 20th and NE Killingsworth, at 2:00 p.m. Any food will be potluck.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider ten proposed revisions to the co-op bylaws. Several of these proposals go to the heart of who we are as a cooperative grocery in this community, and how we want the co-op to be governed and managed going forward.
The full text of these proposals will be sent to each member by mail in the next few days, together with a written ballot, which can be mailed in, or placed in a locked ballot box at the store, or brought to the special meeting. The full text will also be posted to the co-op website, and to an online discussion group that has been created by the Owner Linkage Committee.
Because the board has authorized a mail-in ballot, we will not be voting “live” at the meeting itself. Instead, the meeting will afford an opportunity for members to engage in some structured dialogue about the proposals. There will be a facilitator and a scribe to help keep the discussion on track.
Members who have not already mailed in their ballots or dropped them off at the store can submit them at the special meeting. Votes will be counted immediately following the close of the meeting.
I look forward to seeing you there.
R. Willis, member 7470
